WTI gains slightly as Brent crude declines

Crude oil prices were down slightly during the session Monday but August contracts for West Texas Intermediate crude ended 10 cents higher at $145.18 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after trading as low as $142.49 per barrel and as high as $146.37 per barrel.
August contracts for Brent crude, which are set to expire Wednesday, dropped 57 cents to $143.92 per barrel on the ICE Futures Europe exchange in London, while September contracts were down 24 cents to $145.33 per barrel.
Nymex August gasoline last traded at $3.56 per gallon.
August gold was $13.10 higher to $973.70 per troy ounce in New York on worries that either Israel or the United States are preparing an attack on Iran, while silver also saw gains, adding 43 cents to $19.25 per troy ounce.
Platinum, however, declined, dropping $11.20 to $2,036 per troy ounce .
Among base metals, September copper added 1 cent to $3.75 per pound in New York.
Prices for corn and soybeans declined on hopes that better weather in US Midwest growing regions will help crops recover from floods there last month.
December corn on the Chicago Board of Trade was down 27 cents to $6.82 per bushel while November soybeans fell 37 cents to $15.59 per bushel.
CBOT wheat for September was also lower, dropping 12 cents to $8.18 per bushel.
