WTI, Brent crude see gains on session

Crude oil prices were slightly higher at the close of floor trade in New York on Tuesday after going as high as $138.75 in morning trade, although it traded lower for a time during the afternoon session.
West Texas Intermediate crude for August delivery had added 29 cents from Monday’s close by the end of floor trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange to $136.38 per barrel, while August contracts for Brent crude were up 59 cents to $136.50 per barrel after going as high as $137.76 per barrel earlier in the session.
Nymex July gasoline futures were up 1 cent to $3.46 per gallon while August heating oil added 2 cents to $3.84 per gallon but August natural gas dropped 19 cents at last report to $13.14 per million British thermal units.
Gold prices were up Tuesday but other precious metals saw declines.
August gold added $4.30 to $891.50 per troy ounce on a weaker dollar, while July silver was 13 cents lower to $16.67 per troy ounce and October platinum dropped $14.20 to $2,031.50 per troy ounce.
Among base metals, September copper was down 2 cents to $3.79 per pound in New York, while three-month copper dropped $15 to $8,385 per tonne, or $3.80 per pound, on the London Metal Exchange.
Grains prices were mixed.
While July wheat on the Chicago Board of Trade added 3 cents to $8.70 per bushel, CBOT July corn was down 11 cents to $7.12 per bushel and July soybeans dropped 14 cents to $15.01 per bushel on better weather in the US Midwest.
