Boeing Reports Increased Deliveries Over 2007

Aircraft manufacturing giant Boeing has today announced that deliveries over the course of 2007 were up to 441 in total from its commercial models, its largest output since 2001 reflecting strong growth in the manufacturing side of its business, which analysts have predicted could be set to continue over 2008.

The output figure represents a growth of 11% on aircraft delivered over the period, although it is thought that European competitor Airbus may pull through having delivered even more aircraft, after their three unit lead at the end of November 2007 following the launch of its new flagship models.

Meanwhile Boeing are set to launch their revolutionary Dreamliner range at the end of this year, with a view to setting a new benchmark in the aircraft industry which is set to replace its current updated aircraft models for most of its current provision contracts. Otherwise the group has announced that it intends to deliver somewhere in the region of 490 aircraft over 2008.

Boeing have faced stiff competition from Airbus over the last twelve months, after their main competition launched their own updated flagship range, which has proven to be a major success for the company. However amidst allegations of corruption and insider dealing at parent company EADS, Airbus hasn’t been short of its fair share of contentiousness, which may yet have a deeper impact on performance over the year end.

Boeing’s new 737 range has found favour with budget airlines across the world, and has proven particularly popular since its introduction with sales of this model accounting for some 330 of total commercial sales throughout 2007. It remains to be seen whether the new 787 Dreamliner will prove as popular as is currently suspected, and whether it will help boost the sales figures over 2008.
