New financial services group for Grant Thornton
by Kay Murchie
Following the merger of Grant Thornton and RSM Robson Rhodes, the firm has created a new cross-discipline group known as the Financial Services Group.
Grant Thornton declares that the creation will form a credible alternative to the Big 4 international accountancy and professional services firms namely PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloittes, Ernst & Young, KPMG.
The new group will replace the old Financial Markets Group (Grant Thornton) and Financial Services practice (RSM Robson Rhodes), and will be led by partner Ian Gorham. The Financial Services Group has 13 Partners and a further 150 employees, making it one of the largest providers of professional services to the financial services market in the UK.
Ian Gorham commented that the creation of the new team will help them increase their strategic offering in the marketplace.
The Financial Services Group includes consultants across the banking, fund management, insurance, life insurance and investment industries. It also includes audit, tax and advisory capabilities and a strong presence in the pensions, private equity and hedge fund sectors.
The Financial Services Group represents around £22 million of the firm’s total revenue. The new group will be based at Grant Thornton’s Finsbury Square office in London.
