Precious, base metals prices higher

Prices for precious metals were higher in New York on Friday as the US dollar again lost ground to the euro.
August gold added $6.60 to $684.70 per troy ounce for a gain of 2.6 percent during the week, while September silver was 3 cents higher to $13.40 per troy ounce and October platinum gained $8.10 to trade at $1,346.60 per troy ounce.
Base metals prices were also higher.
Three-month lead ended the session in London at $3,480 per tonne, while three-month copper gained $140 to $8,110 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange and added 4 cents to $3.71 per pound in New York.
Tin was 8.5 percent higher on the week, closing at $15,400 per tonne, while nickel added 6 percent on the week to $34,700 per tonne and aluminium gained 2.2 percent this week to close at $2,845 per tonne.
Brent crude had dropped 17 cents over the week to trade at $77.40 per barrel late in the day on the Intercontinental Exchange in London, while August contracts for West Texas Intermediate crude fell 32 cents to $75.60 per barrel in mid-afternoon trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Nymex August gasoline was 3 cents lower to $2.17 per gallon, while September heating oil fell 2 cents to $2.12 per gallon and Nymex September natural gas dropped 27 cents to $6.52 per million British thermal units.
