Crude oil fall below $64 per barrel

The price of West Texas Intermediate crude was lower on Monday, dropping by $1.03 to $63.25 per barrel in midday trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The price of Nymex heating oil held steady at $1.86 per gallon, while Nymex gasoline was up 1 cent to $2.11 per gallon. Natural gas gained 5 cents to $7.66 per million British thermal units.

With European investors still out on the day after Easter, metals prices were higher in New York at midday on Monday.

June gold added $1.90 to trade at $681.30 per troy ounce. May silver added 12 cents to $13.86 per troy ounce, and July platinum gained $2.10 to $1,268 per troy ounce.

In base metals, copper added 7 cents to $3.45 per pound.
