by Brian Turner

Gold was down in early afternoon trading in London after a gain of almost $6 Tuesday. Silver was also down 2 cents after a 20 cent gain on Tuesday. Copper was up $35 to $3,273 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange on tight supplies, and aluminium was up $30, to $1,874 a tonne.

Crude oil futures were up again on Wednesday, as investors waited for the weekly U.S. inventory data, which was scheduled to be released later in the day. The report was expected to show another rise in stockpiles.

Nymex WTI May deliveries were up 39 cents to $52.69 per barrel at mid-day after a $1.93 gain on Tuesday. June deliveries were up 41 cents to $54.02 after a rise of $2.08 on Tuesday.
